{ Christian Louboutin Pop Up }

With my ever growing excitement about my forth coming visit to see the King, with a capital C, of shoes exhibition at the design museum, I thought it only fitting that I allow the tension to heighten with a visit to Christian Louboutin's pop up shop in Selfridges before it closes on Sunday.

As ever, Selfridges did not disappoint with their window display. An engineering creation to entice the passersby. Punching fists, can can legs all with moving parts. It was all there... Until you stepped inside.
The collection, in all it's theatrics, was rather unimaginatively displayed on circular gondolas. There were no classic courts to be seen, which I thought would be their bread and butter, as well as serving as a calm grounding to the ostentatious studded and embellished fashion styles they were showcasing.

The accessories range was minimal and was displayed in a rehashed version of the wonderland shop that had been there previously.

That said, it was lovely to flick through the beautiful hardback book which I am coveting. It was also a lovely opportunity to marvel at those red soles that we all can't help but crave.

The business card I can't imagine calling on very much, but I couldn't help myself. I love the idea of having Christian Louboutin in my address book...

I didn't know kit kats still came in foil! I loved the feeling of tearing it down the middle!

{ sunflowers in the river }

Is anyone else really enjoying the River Island windows at the moment?
They seem to be full of fun and whimsy.
Recently they had bright pop coloured plastic penguins in the men's windows. And now they have shoes, accessories and sunflowers in shopping trolleys. It definitely feels new, and paired with their new shop fits the brand definitely seems to be evolving.

{ the prop shop }

If you can imagine a warehouse full of treasures and trinkets...
The prop house was my seventh heaven!

(and yes that really is a full size plastic horse)

{ homemade petticoat }

Last night I felt like an absolute princess.

This vintage dress is what vintage should really be about...  It was my grandmothers.  It was a strapless dress, with a full circle skirt that hung flat.  Here I have added satin straps, and made this huge petticoat...

With just 12 metres of black netting, bias binding, and even more black thread, some magic mother power and lost of guess work, my mother and I made this amazing petticoat.

My inspiration was 1950s Dior...
I wore the finished dress to The Savoy Ball last night at The Battersea Arts Centre.  It was an amazing night, I had some fantastic dances and I wish I could do it all over again tonight!!!

{ London Design Week }

It's not been an easy day...
To try to cheer each other up, I have brought mama with me to the Design Centre to look for wallpapers.

We stopped at the Tatler Restaurant for tea and cake...

{ Polish Oscars }

I made these Polish Oscars for my Polish dance group's post festival award ceremony.  The cute little Krakow style hats make the otherwise rather agressive alien action figures quite funny.
The little guys were mounted onto little wooden blocks which really finished them off.

{ Croydon Carers - week seven Window Dressing }

With the new children's department taking centre stage in the windows of Croydon Carers, the left hand window just needed a refresh.  So an addition of my SS12 season's favourite colour combination, peppermint & raspberry cream, was all this window needed to feel renewed...

All of this week's work was done whilst the shop was closed on Sunday with the help of Krishin.  Thanks for a very productive afternoon.  The shop looks great!

{ Croydon Carers - week seven Men's Lounge }

I also managed to give the men of Croydon a designated area for them to relax in.  Here, they can peruse the many books, LPs and computer games, and even sit down and have a read.  They too have their own Stylist's Choice rail with some of our best men's items...  Including Charles Tywhritt and Peter Werth.

{ Croydon Carers - week seven Kids Corner }

This week I finally managed to create an inviting children's department for the Croydon carers.  With their own play area, accessible bookcases and Stylist's Choice clothes rail, the Croydon kids won't know what's hit them...

LOVE the colours.

{ location location location house }

Last week I was shooting on location, the location house was absolutely divine.
It was absolutely what I dream of.
When I close my eyes and imagine my perfect house, I see an amazing house just like this one in South London.

{ a big fat surprise }

whilst walking through Croydon's 200 year old department store Allders, I discovered, much to my surprise, the new big fat gypsy wedding department...

{ the great egg hunt }

Great Marlborough Street
Hazel Nicholls' beautiful egg made up of hundreds of tiny stickers. Have a look at her blog to see how she made it.
What I love about this egg is it's not just beautiful on the outside... The message is beautiful too.

{ popsicles }

New York is, as it so often is, leading the trend in treats!  Last year it was nougat, this year it's popsicles!

Popbar is like a fun, summer icy cool version of Laduree!
Here you can select and customise your very own lolly pop!
They are all made fresh, from natural ingredients, and look very very tasty.
Sorbet pops, Ice Cream pops, Yogurt pops.

{ the house of detail }

Inspired by something I saw at The Terence Conran exhibition today, I created my own business map which I think I may beautify and include on my website.

Here is The Detail as it works at the minute...

Underneath is Terence's version...
